Christina
The only notification that comes through my phone in the middle of the night is the notification when my ring cameras go off at my home. This morning I woke up and my phone was still on silent, and a few seconds later my app goes off.

00;00;15;17 - 00;00;20;14
Meghan
That, speaking of Shelby, says, Hello.

00;00;21;10 - 00;00;22;06
Meghan
Moussavi.

00;00;23;05 - 00;00;26;08
Meghan
He's in my backyard, which is right outside this one.

00;00;26;10 - 00;00;32;21
Christina
Oh, okay. Okay. He's he's he's in competition with garage kitty from the last day.

00;00;32;24 - 00;00;39;21
Meghan
Yeah. Yeah. He's like, wait a minute. Where's my where's my 15 minutes of fame?

00;00;40;11 - 00;00;41;00
Meghan
There we go.

00;00;42;22 - 00;01;04;24
Christina
Okay, so I get this notification and I'm just like, oh, it's probably one of my many pigs has set off the camera, but it's still dark outside. So I open the app and lo and behold, there is a big cat on top, like right in view of my camera. Now, friends, I live in the Pacific Northwest, okay? I'm a little down the street.

00;01;04;24 - 00;01;17;17
Christina
I live between two parks, and we are right off of some some serious like woods here. So what I'm seeing on my camera looks like a cougar. And no.

00;01;17;18 - 00;01;20;26
Meghan
Are there are there like wild cougars up there?

00;01;21;04 - 00;01;30;28
Christina
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Okay. Michael one time was like he was tracking a cougar, and then he realized the cougar was actually behind him. Tracking him.

00;01;31;11 - 00;01;32;18
Meghan
Oh, no.

00;01;32;19 - 00;01;33;27
Christina
So, yeah, so lutely not.

00;01;33;27 - 00;01;35;10
Meghan
Yeah, no. Burn it down.

00;01;35;10 - 00;01;38;14
Meghan
Move now it is.

00;01;38;17 - 00;01;47;24
Christina
Is a side note. My counselor, like a couple of weeks ago was like, you know, there are some hiking groups here. And I was like, no, no, I'm, I'm good, I'm good.

00;01;47;24 - 00;01;48;29
Meghan
Nothing. I'm to get.

00;01;48;29 - 00;01;49;19
Christina
Outdoors.

00;01;49;19 - 00;01;50;07
Meghan
Thank you. Yeah.

00;01;51;04 - 00;01;52;09
Meghan
So was it a cougar?

00;01;52;13 - 00;02;12;12
Christina
Oh, my gosh, girl. I flew out of bed. I had no contacts in, so I don't know if that's what I'm seeing or not trying to, like, run and grab my glasses and around and I turn the lights on called the local police department and was just I did not call 911 do not call 911 the.

00;02;12;12 - 00;02;13;08
Meghan
Nonpartisan.

00;02;13;08 - 00;02;33;23
Christina
Non-Emergency line. And they were very kind and like put me through to Officer Smith. And Officer Smith was like, No, Christina, you cannot fire a weapon in city like that because.

00;02;33;23 - 00;02;35;27
Meghan
Yeah, oh, my gosh.

00;02;36;11 - 00;02;39;22
Christina
So, yeah, he discouraged me from doing that.

00;02;40;14 - 00;02;43;11
Meghan
But can I shout out Officer Smith?

00;02;43;20 - 00;02;45;14
Christina
Officer Smith, officers keeping.

00;02;45;14 - 00;02;52;03
Meghan
Christina out of jail. She can't handle it. Yeah, it's. It's too much.

00;02;52;03 - 00;02;54;09
Christina
I'm not. Yeah, I'm not designed for that.

00;02;54;09 - 00;02;54;16
Meghan
For a.

00;02;54;16 - 00;02;57;10
Meghan
Jail.

00;02;57;10 - 00;03;16;23
Christina
Yeah. Oh, my gosh. So, yeah, it, it, I sent it in the video in and the officer came back and said, we think it's just a large, you know, domestic cat. But let me tell you, friends like that is, you know, fight or flight is not the best.

00;03;16;23 - 00;03;20;25
Meghan
Way to to start your day know it's like.

00;03;21;02 - 00;03;22;15
Meghan
Yeah, yeah, probably not.

00;03;22;23 - 00;03;23;04
Meghan
Yeah.

00;03;23;28 - 00;03;33;22
Christina
I'm like, ah, later on in the day, I'm like, What is wrong with me? I feel so off balances. Like you got 5 hours of sleep like you came off of. Yeah, you came out fighting with a gun.

00;03;33;28 - 00;03;54;04
Meghan
So speaking of though, I remember waking up after Jason died and that being there reality kind of crashing down, you know, and starting my day in that, um, heart and mindset, you know, it's like I wake up and for a split second, everything's fine. And then I remember, you know.

00;03;54;19 - 00;03;55;02
Christina
Yeah.

00;03;55;11 - 00;03;59;14
Meghan
So anyway, not to bring down the room, but then when your husband dies, it sucks.

00;04;00;25 - 00;04;02;02
Christina
Hi, I'm Christina.

00;04;02;02 - 00;04;05;09
Meghan
And I'm Megan, and this is the Full Cup Club podcast.

00;04;05;11 - 00;04;08;14
Christina
If you've been knocked down, we're here to cheer you on as you get back up.

00;04;08;15 - 00;04;11;16
Meghan
So whether your cup has coffee, tea or vodka in it.

00;04;11;20 - 00;04;31;02
Christina
Welcome to the FA Cup Club. Okay, friends, on today's episode we are doing for the Cup Club. For the club this month was Megan's pick. So Megan, before we begin and you share with the bookies.

00;04;31;23 - 00;04;32;03
Meghan
What.

00;04;32;03 - 00;04;32;28
Christina
Is in your cup.

00;04;34;03 - 00;04;45;25
Meghan
I am drinking water. I am just hydrating today because we all got to hydrate. You know, sometimes it's not fancy. Sometimes you just got to do it.

00;04;45;25 - 00;04;46;05
Meghan
Mm.

00;04;46;14 - 00;04;47;19
Meghan
What are you drinking today?

00;04;47;29 - 00;04;56;00
Christina
I am drinking water, but only because I forgot before we started recording to go round my Lacroix. Hey, what's filling your cup? Right now? What's bringing you joy?

00;04;56;17 - 00;05;04;18
Meghan
I So we're recording this right before dinner for me. That is the time of day. It is.

00;05;04;18 - 00;05;04;26
Meghan
It is.

00;05;04;26 - 00;05;06;16
Christina
The dinner is bringing you joy.

00;05;07;24 - 00;05;10;00
Meghan
Yeah, we're having sushi.

00;05;10;17 - 00;05;14;06
Meghan
Ooh, yeah. I'm really looking forward to it.

00;05;14;09 - 00;05;23;04
Christina
Now, are you making it at home yourself or DIY? Christina I don't know if you're feeling yes, you are doing this as a like.

00;05;23;04 - 00;05;23;15
Meghan
An.

00;05;23;23 - 00;05;25;01
Christina
Experience.

00;05;26;00 - 00;05;35;21
Meghan
I can see why you might think that. Cause I do like to like learn how to do stuff, you know, we just where we made a purchase.

00;05;36;07 - 00;05;38;27
Christina
Oh, okay. Sushi and. Okay, fridge.

00;05;38;27 - 00;05;40;04
Meghan
And I'm excited about it.

00;05;40;04 - 00;05;41;24
Meghan
Oh, yeah, that's.

00;05;41;24 - 00;06;01;05
Meghan
That's what's bringing me joy. And that's allowed. I love sushi. Oh, my gosh. For 20 years of my life, I thought I was allergic to shellfish. That's a story for another time. I have certainly made up for lost time. So finding out I am not in fact allergic to shellfish.

00;06;01;05 - 00;06;03;06
Meghan
Oh, cause that's. Why do you.

00;06;03;17 - 00;06;06;04
Meghan
Come? So what's the. What's filling your cup?

00;06;06;11 - 00;06;30;25
Christina
Oh, man. I think it's honestly still pickleball. It's still open. Yeah, I'm just going to be on new people. Well, okay, so for me, it's not. I love that I saw this poster and it said some of the asking, is it the journey for you or is it the destination? And I would normally say for me and my personality, I would always said in the past, it's the journey.

00;06;30;25 - 00;06;42;23
Christina
But now after seeing this, the response from this little creature and the meme said, it's the company and for me it's all about the company. And honestly.

00;06;42;26 - 00;06;44;21
Meghan
The friends you meet along the way.

00;06;44;21 - 00;07;07;26
Christina
It is like playing pickleball, to be honest, and anybody who's listening to this, I just apologize if I've ever been your partner to find this out. But like, I have to remind myself, like, Hey, your partner probably wants to win here because I'm just laughing and having fun and enjoying all the people's company. And it's like, Oh, they want you to, like, actually mentally join this game.

00;07;08;20 - 00;07;44;21
Christina
Yeah, I actually met someone who she is, you know, she was a widow and remarried and just other people and who have experienced loss. And it's a mate. It's like it's everywhere. Like, you know, people experiences hard things and I don't know, you know, and I want to say something that's so funny because on the podcast we've talked about in the past, like grief and loss and getting back up and and we encourage you not to say, hey, call me if you need anything.

00;07;44;27 - 00;08;07;04
Christina
And guess what Christina said today to somebody? I did. And you know what I did after I said it, like in the middle of the game, I stopped myself. I stop and I said, hey, I am the biggest person to say do not say this. And I just said it to you and I'm sorry. And I'm going to text the person later and say, These are the three things that I can do, which would be for you.

00;08;07;04 - 00;08;08;17
Meghan
So which is very helpful.

00;08;08;19 - 00;08;22;05
Christina
Yeah, exactly. So again, we get it wrong. We, we tell you these things and we get it wrong and then you just have to stop and redo it. So that is what's bringing me life is finding this community and hanging out with these people right now. So that's.

00;08;22;05 - 00;08;35;21
Meghan
Awesome. That's true. So true, though. It's the people I've always said that the people you work with like at a job can really make or break the experience. Yes, because it's not necessarily about the work. It's about the people you're spending all day with.

00;08;35;27 - 00;08;52;15
Christina
Yes. So, yeah, Michael used to say that about his job, too. And that was just like the friends and all that type of thing. And he really valued being on a good team and made a difference. So yeah, yeah, for sure. I agree. So on today's episode for Backup Club.

00;08;52;15 - 00;08;53;14
Meghan
For Book Club Club.

00;08;53;19 - 00;09;05;21
Christina
Megan chose the book this month and I'm excited. I really enjoyed the book, but I'm going to let her introduce the author again. She's not here in our studio. This joke never gets a joke.

00;09;06;03 - 00;09;35;17
Meghan
Never. It's funny every single time. So we read You Are a Badass this month and it's by Jenson Charo. She is a number one New York Times bestselling author. So she is a success coach, a life coach, a public speaker. And I think my favorite part about this book is she lived a whole life before she she wrote it like she wrote it in her forties.

00;09;35;17 - 00;09;57;18
Meghan
I'm so sorry. It's wrong. But she was like well into adulthood when she wrote this book and living a life that I think a lot of us see ourselves in, it's like, why can't we make more money? And why do I keep, you know, choosing these, like, deadened things for myself? She was in a band called Cross H.

00;09;58;11 - 00;10;26;23
Meghan
Like, her story is great, her stories are great. So I really like that she is not your typical self-help book. This book came out in 2013. I think I read it in maybe 2016 for the first time somewhere in there. And I this was my first book I've ever like experience in the self-help realm, okay? And it really set the tone for me.

00;10;26;23 - 00;10;28;21
Meghan
I don't like any of the other ones.

00;10;29;03 - 00;10;34;19
Christina
So you weren't like ten years old, like me reading self-help books, Heidi? No. Okay. Okay.

00;10;34;21 - 00;11;01;16
Meghan
No, no. This was this was my first one. And she like she cusses. She I mean, obviously, the book is called You're a Bad Ass. She's got like crazy stories. And I feel like she is she comes across as very authentic and real, not like that fake person. That's like all you have to do is be grateful and meditate like she does talk about gratitude, practices and meditation.

00;11;01;20 - 00;11;28;18
Meghan
But in such a down to earth, regular person kind of way where you're like, Okay, I can probably do that. You know, I love this book. I will say it is not a book for like when you are in the throes of something hard. This is a book you read. When you need motivation, you need your ass kicked to make a change, you know?

00;11;28;20 - 00;11;56;06
Meghan
So this is a book for like, say we're talking about widows not even in the first year. I don't think it's like I think you need to get through the hard part of loss get get past that that initial stage of grief and then even even further out, it's like after a year when you're like, okay, I've been through every major holiday now without my other half, what am I doing in my life?

00;11;56;06 - 00;12;14;13
Meghan
I think from that point forward, somewhere in there is when you might read this book. You know, it's not a book for the Big L. No, ma'am, but I do find it to be a really great ass kicking because she's straight up is like, why are you doing this to yourself? Like, you can have literally any life you want.

00;12;14;13 - 00;12;36;11
Meghan
You can do anything you want with your time, so why would you not do exactly what you want to do? You know what I mean? So the book is broken up into five parts, so we've picked our favorite little little snippets, little chunks from each section. And I just absolutely recommend that you pick up this book on Audible or find it on Amazon.

00;12;36;19 - 00;12;58;07
Meghan
It is not expensive. It's like $8 maybe because it's been out for so long. But I fully recommend this book for people who need motivation to make a change. If you feel like you are not living to your fullest potential in whatever you're doing, but you don't really know how to break through that barrier. I think this is a great book for that.

00;12;58;07 - 00;13;16;00
Christina
You know, she talks about that concept or in the book about if you are struggling with something and you can't. I've seen this a few times with authors and I think it's great if you're stuck in something, you may need to hire a coach, you may need to hire different people. But I think this is a really good first start.

00;13;16;00 - 00;13;22;14
Christina
If you're stuck like you're saying, it's it's just a great, you know, first step in getting unstuck.

00;13;22;18 - 00;13;37;02
Meghan
So, yeah, I yep, I agree. So like I said, the book's divided into five parts. So the first part is part one how you got this way. And I think both of our we had the same favorite quote from this section.

00;13;37;12 - 00;13;38;00
Christina
Yes.

00;13;38;00 - 00;13;44;08
Meghan
It's not your fault if you're fucked up, it's your fault if you stay fucked up.

00;13;44;08 - 00;13;44;18
Meghan
Mm.

00;13;44;27 - 00;14;08;18
Christina
I think that is so true. I think a lot of people, it takes a lot of time in their life to figure that one point out of like yes, you had a really hard childhood and acknowledge that, yes, it was hard, it was whatever it was or you were in a bad situation. But it's your responsibility to go to counseling, to do the work, to do all of that stuff.

00;14;08;18 - 00;14;10;24
Christina
You cannot stay stuck in that. Right.

00;14;11;10 - 00;14;37;22
Meghan
And it's your responsibility. Exactly. You have to pull yourself out of it if you want to. You know, it is not anybody else's responsibility but yours. I loved that. Part two is called your inner badass and my favorite. You know, it's kind of hard to choose like a favorite line from each section, but I think my favorite one from this one was most people are living an illusion of someone else's beliefs.

00;14;38;03 - 00;14;46;21
Meghan
So it's like most people are living their lives according to what other people think they should be doing. Right.

00;14;46;29 - 00;14;48;23
Christina
I'm just sitting here. Here is.

00;14;48;29 - 00;14;49;15
Meghan
Yeah.

00;14;50;22 - 00;14;53;04
Meghan
You're like, I have so much to say.

00;14;53;04 - 00;14;58;00
Christina
Literally covering my mouth. I don't even think it's just parents. I think it's it's.

00;14;58;00 - 00;15;02;03
Meghan
Oh, spouse spouses like the patriarchy.

00;15;02;03 - 00;15;22;20
Christina
Yeah, that's where I was going. That's where I was going with it, you know. Yeah. I think it's just like and if you've never questioned it and you've never sat down and maybe deconstructed the things in your life that you've been taught, and ask yourself why, yeah, yes, yes. To that you are living somebody else's. Yeah.

00;15;22;24 - 00;15;35;18
Meghan
So like what is your, what do you want to do with your life and figure it out and then figure out how to go do it. You know, you have to live according to somebody else's room. I mean, don't let go murder people. You have to follow somewhere else.

00;15;35;29 - 00;15;56;12
Christina
No. But like, if you've been told that this is the way things have to be done, maybe you are somebody who. Oh, you have to go to college and you're like, Well, I really want to go pursue this dream that somebody else says, what is the quote from Goonies? There is somebody else's wishes. Those are somebody else's dreams.

00;15;56;20 - 00;16;08;29
Christina
You know, it is true, though. It's it's somebody else's. So it's okay to question those things. And yeah, that's their reality. That's what they believe. And you get to question that and you get to, to move.

00;16;08;29 - 00;16;13;07
Meghan
Yeah. And they can live in their reality. That's fine but it Yeah. It's not yours and it doesn't.

00;16;13;07 - 00;16;14;24
Christina
Exactly, exactly. Yeah.

00;16;15;22 - 00;16;39;00
Meghan
So part three was how to tap into the motherload. And this is when she talks about meditating. So she does pull in those, you know, quote unquote self-help things where she's talking about gratitude and meditation and all of that. Because that's I mean, that's part of it, right? Yes. But she doesn't. And such a fun, like authentic and real and just normal.

00;16;39;00 - 00;17;15;27
Meghan
Like a normal. Yes. We talk kind of way. And this I learned how to meditate from this book. And because she illustrated this concept, not like actually but like the way she wrote it, it was like meditation is like connecting to your source energy, whether that's like God or the universe or whatever. And she she said it's like if you can imagine a rope going, coming down and going through your head and going through your whole body and like out your feet and then reconnecting back up at the top where like above where it entered your head.

00;17;15;27 - 00;17;40;21
Meghan
And it's like you're connected in this loop that's what meditation is like. It's like the energy kind of flowing through you. And so that's how I learned to meditate. Like, that's how I learned to, like, picture it. And, you know, because I was having a hard time staying focused and meditation anyway. So I explained it to you a while ago and I was like, I have to think about it this way or else I can't do it.

00;17;41;02 - 00;17;44;02
Meghan
And then now you read this book and you're like, This is where you got that?

00;17;45;25 - 00;17;55;13
Christina
And I had to give that because I think in an episode you talked about this and I thought you were saying you just said the bottom of your feet. I was thinking that you were saying it was coming at your bottom.

00;17;57;04 - 00;17;58;17
Meghan
Like, you're right.

00;17;58;29 - 00;18;01;04
Meghan
I just for meditation.

00;18;03;08 - 00;18;15;20
Christina
And I'm just like, this is the most awkward explanation of what it would be like. It's coming out the top of your head. It's going through your butt. It's coming in a loop. And so I'm just sitting here listening.

00;18;15;21 - 00;18;17;16
Meghan
To like hanging there.

00;18;17;16 - 00;18;19;19
Meghan
With connected to this room with.

00;18;19;19 - 00;18;21;03
Meghan
Your feet dangling.

00;18;21;14 - 00;18;37;02
Christina
Like so are just sitting here like in all of like how did I miss, how do I miss the feet part? So yeah, if yeah, I've been like all this time, I'm like, this is so awkward that she envisions like a rope can mean.

00;18;37;19 - 00;18;46;07
Meghan
Well, you know, it could be it could be like if you're sitting so like if you're sitting down now the rope is, oh, I still.

00;18;46;07 - 00;18;46;28
Christina
Want to come out.

00;18;47;12 - 00;18;48;26
Meghan
But no, it's like.

00;18;48;26 - 00;18;55;07
Meghan
And then it goes out your butt but like, yeah, no I could see. No, I might have, I might have said that because if you're.

00;18;55;07 - 00;18;58;03
Meghan
Okay, okay, okay, okay.

00;18;58;17 - 00;19;14;12
Christina
Because this is where you remember earlier before the podcast started, I was sharing with you that I had seen a thing that says that your butthole is as unique as your fingerprint. And remember, like you said, Oh, it's like a snowflake or.

00;19;14;21 - 00;19;16;20
Meghan
You have a snowflake butthole.

00;19;16;20 - 00;19;27;18
Christina
That. So yeah, that's almost like that's why my brain jumped to that earlier because I was thinking that you said you envision like this loop and. Yeah, you're welcome.

00;19;27;18 - 00;19;41;26
Meghan
I am so curious about how many buttholes the scientists or whoever said that they're all unique looked at to determine that that was the case.

00;19;41;26 - 00;19;49;14
Christina
I'm just I think the joke was, is like for security purposes, like, is this something that they will use like our readiness?

00;19;49;14 - 00;19;58;17
Meghan
And so that it's about seeing a dead body by their dental stuff, by their teeth? Oh, yeah. But did you look at their butthole?

00;19;59;11 - 00;20;00;09
Meghan
It's not lacquered.

00;20;00;29 - 00;20;27;02
Meghan
They're only fans. So like, that was part three. It was about meditating and buttholes. No, it was just about meditating. Part four is about how to get over your B.S. Already. That's what it's called. And there was an analogy she used in this part where she talks about crabs. So she's built this like built on each part as it goes, right?

00;20;27;02 - 00;20;46;20
Meghan
So it's like about why are you this way? What reality do you want and how do you create what you want to happen? She talks about this crab that's trying to escape its enclosure and how, you know, this crab wants out. And the other crabs, instead of boosting it up to help it get out, they pull it back.

00;20;46;20 - 00;20;48;12
Meghan
Down because.

00;20;48;19 - 00;20;59;18
Meghan
This is comfortable. This is familiar. And that's what people in your life might do. If you're trying to make a change, they're going to pull you back in to what's comfortable and safe.

00;21;00;02 - 00;21;00;17
Christina
Yes.

00;21;00;29 - 00;21;03;07
Meghan
So I really liked that analogy.

00;21;03;07 - 00;21;27;19
Christina
Mm hmm. This was my favorite section of the book, by the way, is section four. And I took a lot of notes on this. I like that. She talked about being nice to yourself. You're not being mean to other people. You're being nice to yourself. And I think that's something in my life that I look at is I'm really good at advocating for other people more.

00;21;28;10 - 00;21;42;03
Christina
Something may be happening to me and I don't advocate for myself, but I will advocate for other people and learning like you're not being mean to them. You're being kind to yourself when you advocate for yourself. And so I like that.

00;21;43;07 - 00;21;51;11
Meghan
And you've talked before about that person from Take Talk or maybe you said that's where you should treat yourself like you treat your best friend.

00;21;51;11 - 00;22;14;09
Christina
Yes. Yes. She talks about that in this book. And I'm wondering if the girl on TikTok got it from there. The idea of treating yourself like a dearly loved friend or an honored guest, and that's this this is something I'm actively working on right now. Yeah, same taking care of myself. I mean, we talk about self-care a lot, but like really drilling it down to that.

00;22;14;09 - 00;22;26;19
Christina
Like, if, if, you know, if you were to come over to my home, like, I would I would do all of these extra things for you and really doing those extra things for me. Mm. I think that this.

00;22;26;19 - 00;22;32;14
Meghan
Is kind of like, kind of like what we talked about about lighting the good candles.

00;22;32;14 - 00;22;34;12
Christina
Yes, yes, yeah.

00;22;34;12 - 00;22;36;06
Meghan
The do that for you, man.

00;22;36;22 - 00;22;37;11
Christina
Yes.

00;22;37;26 - 00;22;46;05
Meghan
You know, we talked about like how we chose our perfect or our favorite moments in each section. But now I'm like, there were seven things I loved about.

00;22;47;02 - 00;22;47;23
Meghan
This chapter.

00;22;48;05 - 00;23;14;11
Meghan
Anyway. But the one more thing she talked about that we have talked about before and the podcast about goal setting, I think is and other podcasts where we talk about goals is breaking that goal down, chunk it down and miserable pieces instead of just like one huge thing that seems insurmountable. So that what's in the section too. But then in part five it's called How to Kick Some Ass.

00;23;14;17 - 00;23;31;11
Meghan
So she's talked about how you got this way, what you want, how to meditate, how to get over yourself. And now it's how to kick some ass. This this section. She talks a lot about money and she has a whole nother book called You Are a Bad Asset Making Money.

00;23;31;22 - 00;23;32;03
Meghan
Mm hmm.

00;23;32;08 - 00;23;51;04
Meghan
So if money is a pain point for you, if you're like a person who's like, why can't why do I never have enough money? Or Why can't I make money? Why can't I get past a certain pay grade or feeling, you know, this section of this book and then that whole other book probably be a good one to read.

00;23;51;10 - 00;24;02;03
Meghan
And it's not like it's not going to give you business tips about how to run a business and and scale and grow and that it's it's more about mindset and.

00;24;02;10 - 00;24;02;24
Christina
Yes.

00;24;03;02 - 00;24;05;08
Meghan
Being in your own way. Hmm.

00;24;06;04 - 00;24;10;14
Christina
But she and I don't just find it. Woo woo. We or anything like that. I think it was just.

00;24;10;14 - 00;24;39;24
Meghan
In really good terms. Yeah. Yeah. And I think a lot of us struggle with feeling like and this is not everybody, but feeling like maybe we don't deserve to make X amount of dollars, you know? And then she, she goes into that a little bit. She talks about being poverty proud and being like kind of like a martyr about money, you know, like, oh, I don't need that lavish lifestyle.

00;24;40;07 - 00;24;53;13
Meghan
And it's like, well, do you want it, though? Because you could create it. You know, it doesn't mean it's just like you were saying, it's not like you're being mean to other people. You're being nice to yourself by growing in this way.

00;24;53;25 - 00;25;13;05
Christina
I like in chapter 24, she tells the story about buying a vehicle and how that the vehicle she really wanted was the Audi. Q I think it was. But then she was like, But the more practical thing to do would be to buy the Honda. And she went back and forth and, and.

00;25;13;05 - 00;25;22;05
Meghan
And it's important to know that she also talked about how much she loves driving. So this was a big deal because she really likes driving.

00;25;22;10 - 00;25;22;20
Meghan
Mm hmm.

00;25;23;04 - 00;25;46;02
Christina
Yeah. And that really resonated with me because I just went through this idea with buying a dog. There's a dog that I've wanted for 30 years, a specific type of dog that I wanted. But then I was like, Well, should I just do this instead? Get the same breed, you know, that we had previously? This is the safe thing to do.

00;25;46;15 - 00;26;09;04
Christina
And I think that's where this resonated with me as like and should I be safe or should I actually get this thing that I wanted? That is really a gamble because sometimes Em's the breed that I want has some health issues, but I'm like, My big thing is I don't want to look back when I'm 80 and be like, I should have gotten that freed like I'm kicking myself now.

00;26;09;15 - 00;26;13;18
Christina
And so I really appreciated her talking about that idea.

00;26;14;01 - 00;26;38;18
Meghan
Yeah, I agree. I cannot think of a specific example of this in my life, but I really liked that she gave this example as a lesson in like doing the thing you want, not the thing that other people think you should do. Yeah, other people say, you know, it's like, no, this is my life. It goes back to it being most people are living an illusion of someone else's beliefs.

00;26;38;18 - 00;26;44;18
Meghan
It goes back to that. It's like, no, live your own life and do the things you want to do.

00;26;45;04 - 00;27;10;21
Christina
When it goes back to fear. Like she said, it is this idea of fear. Like you're, you know, you may be afraid of like what other people will be like, oh, that's impractical. Or that wasn't the responsible thing to do, that type of thing. I mean, obviously you want to be responsible, but what other people's ideas are versus this is actually what I want and I'm going to give myself permission to do this thing that I want to do.

00;27;10;21 - 00;27;24;21
Christina
And I'm not going to carry the weight of other people's expectations when I make this decision. Because she talked about other people being like, well, the other vehicle would be more practical. Yeah. And so I really enjoyed that section right.

00;27;24;21 - 00;27;46;17
Meghan
And I think, like I said, this is not a book for when you are in the throes of something hard. This is a book for when you need an ass kicking to make a change in your life, you know. So if you liked any of these points that we made, I mean, there are so many other pieces of wisdom in this book like, yes, I fully recommend it.

00;27;46;17 - 00;27;53;03
Meghan
This is one of my favorite. It might be. It is. It is my favorite, like quote unquote self-help book.

00;27;53;07 - 00;27;53;28
Meghan
Mm hmm.

00;27;53;29 - 00;28;06;27
Meghan
And I just, you know, I'm super I'm just I'm such a Jenson Cheryl, Stan, like, I love it. I love her. She's a great vibe. She seems like a good time.

00;28;06;27 - 00;28;10;09
Christina
Like, I want to pack up and go to India with her on this trip.

00;28;10;21 - 00;28;20;25
Meghan
Yeah, right. Yeah. So anyway, this has been the full book club. Club review and chat about You Are a Badass by Jenson.

00;28;20;25 - 00;28;33;29
Christina
Cheryl Yes. And next month we're doing my favorite, my very favorite life changing book on so many different levels. I was introduced to it from my friend Julie.

00;28;33;29 - 00;28;34;19
Meghan
Is the.

00;28;34;19 - 00;28;59;15
Christina
Book by Brené Brown daring greatly. And I think like it is my heart. I love it. I think it's such an important idea. If you find yourself like you're you're in the throes of like you got knocked down. I think this book is one that is going to help you in this journey. And I think it's a great tool book to have in your toolbox these concepts.

00;28;59;15 - 00;29;03;25
Christina
So I'm excited for us to read this. Have you read it before? Megan Mm.

00;29;03;26 - 00;29;04;00
Meghan
Hmm.

00;29;04;05 - 00;29;05;21
Christina
I've read that. Okay. Okay.

00;29;05;21 - 00;29;09;05
Meghan
Yeah, cool. But it's been a while, so it's a good it'll be a good refresher.

00;29;09;05 - 00;29;32;00
Christina
Yes, yes. So if you haven't purchased that, find it on Amazon and find it in Audible, go to your local bookstore. You're going to find it there or at your local bookstore. I mean, I'm sorry, not bookstore, but your local library or bookstore. Yes. Or you're just a friendly reminder that at your local library, some of them are connected to an audio app.

00;29;32;00 - 00;29;35;27
Christina
So you can listen to audiobooks through your local library.

00;29;35;28 - 00;29;52;18
Meghan
Yeah, you sure can. You just have to learn which one it is for my library. It's on the website and you just download the app and you put in your library card number and you can listen to free audiobooks and yes, ebooks. You can read free ebooks too by going through the library. So and this this one is so popular.

00;29;52;18 - 00;29;55;14
Meghan
I would be surprised if it's not available.

00;29;55;14 - 00;29;56;26
Christina
Exactly. Exactly.

00;29;57;10 - 00;30;18;28
